Introductory Dive with Reef Sharks (Non-Certified Divers)

Minimum Age: 12 Years

Duration: Approximately 120 Minutes (including pool training, briefing, boat travel and dive)

Location: Moia Reef, departing daily 1.30pm from Barefoot Kuata Island Resort, Kuata Island, Yasawa Islands, Fiji

IMPORTANT NOTE 1: You must complete the online dive medical and waiver (online dive medical & waiver) before making a booking. If you are advised to seek medical clearance from you physician (doctor) do not make a booking. If you secure dive approval from your physician (doctor) please email cbrskuata@bfcfiji.com to make your booking.

IMPORTANT NOTE 2: For health and safety reasons, participants cannot fly within 24 hours of completing this dive.

IMPORTANT NOTE 3: Guests who present for the dive without completing the required medical questionnaire and do not meet the medical requirements may be refused participation. No refund will be issued.

The Introductory Dive with Reef Sharks is specifically designed for beginners and first-time divers wanting to experience scuba diving in Fiji's Yasawa Islands.

No previous scuba diving experience is required. Pool training commences at 11.00am at Barefoot Kuata Island Resort, where participants receive introductory scuba instruction, safety training and equipment familiarisation from experienced dive instructors. Training lasts approximately 45 minutes, after training it's free time with enough time to take lunch before returing for your dive.

1.30pm guest return to the dive shop for a dive briefing and fitting of dive equipment before departing for Moia Reef. 

Moia Reef is home to a resident population of Whitetip Reef Sharks and Blacktip Reef Sharks, offering an ideal environment for beginner shark diving. Clear tropical waters, shallow reef environments and excellent visibility provide the perfect setting for a safe and enjoyable first diving experience.

Throughout the dive, guests are accompanied by experienced dive instructors who provide guidance, reassurance and in-water support. Guest safety and responsible interaction with marine life remain central to every Barefoot Shark Encounters experience.

The Introductory Dive with Reef Sharks includes:

• Use of all dive equipment
• Introductory pool training and dive briefing
• Return boat transfers to Moia Reef
• Guided introductory shark dive with experienced dive instructors
• Encounter Whitetip Reef Sharks and Blacktip Reef Sharks in their natural habitat

Proceeds from Barefoot Shark Encounters experiences contribute towards ongoing marine conservation initiatives and community support projects within Fiji's Yasawa Islands.

Terms & Conditions

All guests participating in any dive activity must complete a dive waiver and medical questionnaire. Should a medical condition be identified, participation may require further assessment by a Dive Instructor.

Minimum age is 11 years. Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

All payments made by credit card incur a 3.5% processing fee.

Cancellation and No-Shows

A 100% refund of the dive cost will be issued for cancellations made more than 24 hours prior to departure. To cancel, please email info@barefootsharkencounters.com.

Cancellations made within 24 hours of departure and no-shows will incur a 100% cancellation fee.
