Location: Kuata Island, Yasawa Islands, Fiji
Check in at Port Denarau between 8:15–8:30am before departing at 8:45am for the Yasawa Islands.
Arrive at Kuata Island between 10:15am and 10:30am, where you’ll be welcomed by the Barefoot team and introduced to the day ahead, including an overview of the island’s marine sanctuary and conservation programme.
Fiji Island Cultural Experience (Morning)Your morning begins with an immersive introduction to Fijian culture, hosted in partnership with the traditional landowners of Kuata Island.
Experience includes:
- a traditional welcome ceremony and kava introduction
- a captivating meke performance of music and dance
- a hands-on craft workshop
- insights into traditional island life, food and customs
Led by local cultural ambassadors, this experience provides a genuine connection to the traditions and daily life of the Yasawa Islands.
Lunch & RelaxationEnjoy a relaxed island lunch overlooking the ocean, with time to unwind before the afternoon conservation experience.
Marine Conservation Experience (Afternoon)In the afternoon, shift focus from culture to conservation with an interactive experience led by a resident marine biologist.
Coral Ecology & Reef Systems
Learn about:
- coral growth, feeding and reproduction
- threats to reef ecosystems
- how conservation initiatives protect reef health
Hands-On Conservation Activities
Depending on conditions, guests may participate in:
- coral planting or reef restoration
- coral predator management
- intertidal zone exploration
Coastal Walk & Island Ecology
Explore Kuata Island’s dramatic shoreline on a guided walk, learning about:
- coastal ecosystems and vegetation
- intertidal habitats
- local environmental initiatives
This hands-on experience provides a deeper understanding of Fiji’s marine ecosystems and the role conservation plays in protecting them.
Afternoon at LeisureAfter the conservation session, enjoy time to relax or explore Kuata Island:
- unwind on the beach
- take in the surrounding Yasawa landscapes
- enjoy the island’s relaxed atmosphere
Depart Kuata Island at approximately 3:45pm, arriving back at Port Denarau around 6:00pm.

Cancellation Policy
- No fees applicable should guest have to postpone or amend booking to another travel date up to 1 hour prior to departure.
- Cancellation 48 – 25 hours prior to travel, cancellation fee 50% of booking value applies.
- Cancellation 24 hours or less prior to travel or no-show, cancellation fee 100% of booking value applies.
- Marine tourism operates subject to sea and weather conditions. After departing on your day cruise in the event activites are cancelled due to sea and weather conditions, refunds are limited to the retail cost of activities only.
